We are excited to be offering a Winter Truffle Hunt in 2012. The following are tentative details.

Program

The program will begin on February 22nd or February 29th, 2012 (both tentative!). Sessions run a total of 3 days/4 nights, starting with Wednesday evening dinner and ending with breakfast Sunday morning. Check-in time is 4:00 PM Wednesday and check-out time is before 10:00 AM Sunday. Special arrangements can be made for U.S. flights arriving before 4:00 PM.

The program includes breakfasts, accommodations at Bramafam, classes, olive oil & wine tasting and an authentic truffle hunt including transportation to the truffle hunt.

Class size is limited to six. Guests of all levels of expertise can participate.

Tentative Agenda:

Arrival

  • Afternoon arrival at La Pitchoune.
  • Welcome aperitif and dinner in the evening.


Day 1

  • Breakfast.
  • Class preparations for evening meal.
  • Time on your own to explore the Nice Flea Market and the Old Town of Nice or other nearby sights.
  • Late afternoon class start is followed by an aperitif and fireside dinner.


Day 2

  • Breakfast.
  • Journey to the Var region for authentic truffle hunt, cooking demonstration and special truffle lunch.
  • Transportation to truffle hunt included
  • There will be stops before and after lunch to visit an olive oil mill and winery.
  • A light dinner will be served at La Pitchoune.


Day 3

  • Breakfast
  • Post truffle hunt morning class, followed by lunch.
  • Time on your own to explore the Antibes street market, Old Town and Picasso Museum.
  • Evening olive oil tasting and light dinner.

Departure day

  • Breakfast.
  • Goodbye

Accommodations
Guests stay at “La Pitchoune”, a private home originally owned and occupied by Julia & Paul Child. The house is typically Provençal style, with tiled roofs and colored shutters. Rooms are double occupancy with private baths. Private rooms may be arranged, based on availability, for an additional charge.

 

Program Cost
The fee for the Winter Truffle Hunt program is $2,450 per person (U.S. dollars) double occupancy. The fee covers three days of adventure, four nights' accommodation at Bramafam and all breakfasts. Rooms are double occupancy with a private bath. Private rooms may be arranged, based on availability, for an additional charge of $450. Prices are subject to change.

Reservations
To reserve space in the Winter Truffle Hunt program, a deposit of $550 per person is required. We only accept personal checks, made payable to Cooking with Friends in France.

The balance of $1,900 per person is due 90 days before the start of the program. The deposit and the balance are both non-refundable.

Come and join us as we hunt for the elusive Black Truffle. During the month of February, Cooking With Friends in France presents three day programs dedicated to the rare black diamond, ­the truffle. The class features techniques for hearty Provençale winter fare, fireside suppers, market and winery visits, as well as wine and cheese tastings.The highlight of this culinary adventure is an actual and true to life hunt for the elusive and rare Black Truffle.
